With a self-declared focus on responsible public spending, the budget aims to curb national debt while fostering economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tax cuts form a pivotal component of the government\u2019s approach, aiming to benefit over 29 million working individuals. Reductions in Class 1 employee National Insurance Contributions (NICs), and Class 4 self-employed NICs are set to stimulate economic activity. Additionally, the increase in the National Living Wage aims to alleviate income disparities for over 2.7 million low-paid workers. The budget underscores the government\u2019s commitment to supporting businesses and boosting investments. Projections from the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) anticipate a substantial increase in and&nbsp;&nbsp;investment and employment, at an approximated \u00a314 billion, contributing to the overall economic recovery.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Furthermore, Welfare system reforms, including the Back to Work Plan, seek to address long-term sickness and disability-related economic inactivity. This is summarized by their statement, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instituteforgovernment.org.uk\/comment\/six-things-look-out-2023-autumn-statement\">Hunt spent a fiscal windfall in pursuit of growth at the expense of public services<\/a>\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contributing to inequality? \u2013 Progressive Policy Think Tank (PPTT) analysts argue cuts to NICs will benefit London, the Southeast of England, and richer households the most. PPTT analysts predict \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ippr.org\/news-and-media\/press-releases\/revealed-autumn-statement-tax-cuts-benefit-london-south-east-with-the-richest-fifth-of-households-taking-almost-half\">for every \u00a3100 Jeremy Hunt spent on personal tax cuts, \u00a346 will benefit the richest fifth of households. Only \u00a33 of every \u00a3100 of tax cuts will go to the worst-off families.<\/a>\u201d. There were also criticisms that the budget failed to sufficiently deal with the challenges&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.scot\/news\/autumn-statement-offers-worst-case-scenario-for-scotland\/\">posed by the cost of living and climate crises<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p compulsory work placements for those who have been out of work for 18 months, 60%, are a good idea.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Freezing tax on alcohol at current levels is less popular, with only 38% thinking it is a good idea 47% believing it is the wrong priority.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>38% of Britons tend to consider the budget fair rather 23% who believe it than not fair, however 55% of people
