The Witness Journal Committee

Jack Duncan
President and Editor-in-Chief
Hi, I'm Jack, a fourth-year student studying my Master's degree in Conflict, Development and Diplomacy. I did my undergraduate in BA International Relations and have always had a keen interest in politics, elections (particularly in America), international security and multilateral diplomacy. This is my third year as part of the Witness; I was first a weekly contributor, then a junior editor and now President and have loved being a part of such a free society which encourages its members to explore and share any ideas and perspectives they like. The importance of that opportunity to write freely for our members is something our committee is always focused on protecting.

Veronika Parfjonova
Treasurer and Senior Editor
Hi, I'm Veronika, and I'm in my final year studying Politics, Philosophy and Economics. I have always had an interest in international relations - particularly IR theory - and over the past two years, I've specifically focused on applying Marxist, feminist and post-colonial perspectives to examine the current state of world order. I joined the Witness last year as a junior editor because I saw it as a place where my interests in policy, writing and advocacy could come together and the past year has been a rewarding journey of growth, both personally and professionally. I have loved working in an environment where creativity is not just welcomed, but actively encouraged, and am excited to be able to bring even more to the operation of the journal this year.

Emily Hone
Publicity Secretary and Senior Editor
Hi, I'm Emily, currently in my second year studying Politics. I have a strong passion for political theory, with a particular focus on gender theory - a fascination that began while watching the 2016 presidential election and witnessing how gender dynamics played out in political discourse. I'm driven by a desire to explore these ideas further, not only through academic study but also weaving them into my journalistic work. As a Publicity Secretary for the Witness, I'm excited to develop my skills in media and communications, expand our online presence, and connect our publication to a wider audience. I'm eager to refine my journalistic abilities, explore the intersection of politics and media, and contribute content that reflects my interests.
