This week, regular contributor Will Grosse produced a caricature portraying the current situation between Russia and Ukraine.
The 2021-2022 Russo-Ukrainian Crisis is just the latest illustration of the aggressive foreign policy pursued by Vladimir Putin. The mobilisation of Russian forces alongside Ukraine’s borders has greatly increased since the invasion of Crimea 8 years ago, with both Russia and Belarus representing a worrying, quasi-imperialist presence for Ukraine, the two forces claiming to uphold the historic Russian ‘sphere of influence’. Whilst the odds seem heavily stacked in the (potential) invaders’ favour, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky can seemingly count on the support of NATO and the European Union. Whether or not British-made missile launchers will deter the Russian tanks lurking in the shadow of Pripyat remains to be seen, but this is certainly not an emergency with a straightforward solution in sight.
